Welcome to Blackout Baby: “Night Drives on Music & More” written by me, artist, songwriter, and music scholar at the University of Glasgow, Sam Lou Talbot. This emergent and exploratory commentary arose from my artistic/wild research PhD which attempts to untangle body and capital through spontaneous song as wild research, and reimagine ways to make and share music that turn isolation, atomisation, and alienation into power. I began writing the posts in November 2023, and publishing them, immediately, and direct-to-reader as a retrospective commentary, edging away from the algorithm, when the bulk of the practice was complete. Although my PhD is now nearing submission, Blackout Baby… is growing. Upgrade for the full experience.
